Guam Birth Records

In the state of Guam, like most US states, it is the Office of the Vital Statistics, Department of Public Health, which is mandated by law to register, certify and maintain registers of important life events that transpire within the state. Among these vital documents, the birth certificate is requested most often as it is a very basic requirement. It contains information about the birth of an individual as well as the names of the parents, the name of the registrant, the date of birth, and county where the event took place.

If you wish to procure a copy of any birth records in Guam, write or go to the Vital Statistics Office. The office issues certified copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates. The office is open between 8:00 – 3:30 pm from Monday to Friday and is closed during holidays. Birth certificates, when requested, require a processing fee of $5 per copy. Take note that only births registered since Oct 16, 1901 are available and can be procured from the State Department of Public Health’s Vital Records Section. Methods of payment accepted are through cash and credit card only. For off-island requests, a money order or cashier’s check made payable to the Treasurer of Guam is requisite. Personal checks, however, are not accepted.
